Windshield Rust
When I bought the bus, I new it had some rust under the windshield. I was not worried because it did not look like much and it is not that costly to repair. The local VW shop said that they could handle it for a few hundres dollars plus the new seal and metal if needed. I am going to wait until I get the entire bus painted before I fix this rust. Below is the first pic I got of the rust from the previous owner.
Not to bad from looking at the picture, but it could easily get worse.
I decided to help stop it from getting worse by painting as much POR-15 as I could up under the seal. After this I took some POR-15 putty and pushed it up under the seal and around the seal. I smoothed this down, then when dry I sanded it. After that I painted it with more POR-15. This might stop it from getting worse until spring, we will see. Below is how it currently is after two years. The rust is starting to show through again, so I will really need to get this fixed this spring. Even if I cannot get the entire bus painted.
