Listen to the heartbeat of our baby!

Heartbeat on November 9, 2003 (238k)

Heartbeat in October (238k)

This page is dedicated the our first child. We hope to be able to keep an online scrap book and diary of the things that have been going on in our life and in his.

April 30, 2004

It has been two weeks since Evan was born and man have we learned a lot about him. He is a great little boy. He sleeps a lot and sometimes for 4 hours at a time. The nighttime feedings are going well. Tricia is doing a great job feeding him at night while I get some sleep :) The first week, we both helped in the nighttime duty since we had no clue what we were doing anyway. This has been the best experience of my life so far. I look forward to seeing him everyday after work. All other projects seem to have been put on hold for awhile.

The first night went well. Me being the nervous dad probably checked on Evan every hour, just to make sure he was ok. He is sleeping in a bassinet in our bedroom.

April 18, 2004

Mom, Dad and Evan all got to come home today. We left the Culpeper Hospital at 3 pm and are excited and releaved to finally be home.

Evan Tyler Messa was born today at 3:58 am. He was 7 lbs 8 oz and 20 inches. Mom, Dad and baby are doing well and hope to be home soon.

March 24, 2004

2.5 weeks left!!! Not much longer to go. We have the babies room almost ready. New shelves in the closet, a nice removeable border and stickers on the wall. All the furniture is there. Just waiting on the baby.

Tricia is getting more and more uncomfortable. It is hard to sleep since he is constantly moving. He is a very active baby.

We finished our CPR class. That was a nice class. Learned a lot of stuff that I hope I never have to use. Now we are watching our Lamaze videos and ready some books on the birthing process. Tricia is going to try this with very little pain medicine, so wish us luck.

February 17, 2004

We went to the diaper changing class last week. Did not learn a lot, but we are glad that we finally got to go. It has been snowed out three times already. One more class to go, infant CPR. Not much else is happening right now. The baby is moving a lot and making Tricia wish he was born already. About 50 more days to go :)

February 4, 2004

We measured Tricia's belly. It was 38.5 inches!!!! :) But she is still looking as beautiful as ever!

January 31, 2004

Wow, It has been over a month since I updated this webpage. I am such a slacker. A lot has been happening in the last month. Tricia has been doing extremely well. The baby is moving a lot now and I can feel and see him moving in her stomach. She said that he is kicking her ribs a lot. Must be practicing karate or something.

  1. We went to our first baby class in January. This was the class that introduced us to what was going to happen during delivery. Very good stuff, although I could have done without the video's :)
  2. We got registered at Wal-Mart and at Babies R Us. So go check it out :)
  3. We bought a crib from Babies R US and picked it up the following week. I assembled it and put all of the bed stuff that we have in it. It looks very nice. Now we just have to get the room arranged the way we want it.
  4. We had a breastfeeding class that we decided to bail on....... Then the following week it snowed out our infant care and car seat class. That is scheduled for next week now. The we have to take the infant CPR class in March.
  5. Still trying to think of a name for him. Figuring out a boys name has been very hard. A lot harder than I expected it to be. We will have one before he is born, that is what Tricia has told me :)

December 17, 2003

Tricia's stomach measured 36 inches last night. We listened to the baby's heartbeat again. You can tell that he is getting bigger and the heartbeat is slowing down. Not sure the rate, but slower than pervious recordings. Tricia has a cold this week. It is a lot tougher when she cannot take much medicine.

December 02, 2003:

Today was the first and only Sonogram. It is a BOY!!!! The doctor was 95% sure it was a boy. Click on the link on the left to see the pictures. Video will be posted soon. He was covering his face, but the 3D pics are still amazing.

November 30, 2003:

I am adding this entry so that Marlow will stop worrying me about not updating it enough :)

Nothing new has happened, just getting ready for the Sonogram that is going to happen on Tuesday, December 2nd. This should be a 2D and 3D Sonogram.

November 26, 2003:

Tricia went into the doctor this afternoon and weighed 142. She has gained 13 pounds since the beginning of the pregnancy. She said I could put that on here. The babies heartbeat was at 140 beats per minute.

November 21:

This morning Tricia's belly was about 34 inches. Not much change since the last measurement except that it is getting larger above and below the waistline.

November 7:

The afternoon Tricia's belly was 34.5 inches. This was an evening measurement.

October 29:

This morning Tricia's belly was about 33 inches this morning at 6 AM..

October 28:

Doctor's appointment today. All is well. Babies heartbeat is about 150 beats per minute. Sonogram scheduled for December 2nd.

October 26:

Due date is April 10, 2004. A countdown timer was added to this webpage.

October 22:

Tricia's stomach measure about 32 or 32.5 inches this morning at about 6 AM.

October 15:

Tricia's stomach, around the belly button, measures 31 inches at about 6 AM.

October 14:

To the left is a wav file of the baby's heartbeat that you can download and listen to. This was recorded on October 14, 2003 at our house using a doppler. This doppler was rented from http://www.storkradio.com/. It has been an awesome thing to have at home since it allows us to listen to the heartbeat whenever we want and not just at the doctors office once a month. This is the same kind of doppler that is used by our doctor.
